When to use an address service?
The address service is often used when you do not want to set your home address as your business address.
There is also no need for each company to rent a separate office whose address could be used as the company's address.
The address service does not constitute an office rental service and does not grant the right to use the premises at the address of the company.
Obligation to have an address
Every company registered in Estonia is obliged to have a legal address, even if the founders of the company are not citizens of the Republic of Estonia. If an Estonian company has a legal address abroad, a contact person must be appointed.
Contact person service
When to use the contact person service?
The contact person service is intended for companies whose address is located abroad. Commercial Code stipulates that a company whose address is located in a foreign country is obliged to appoint a contact person in Estonia. The contact person must also be registered in the commercial register. When a contact person is registered, their address and contact details become the company's official address and contact details.
A non-resident cannot establish a company in Estonia without a contact person. This is checked both at the notary and when applying for company registration. If there is no contact person, the Commercial Register sets a deadline within which a contact person must be found for the company.
Contact person's task
The contact person's task is to deliver the company's procedural documents and declarations of intent addressed to the company. This means that all official documents are sent to the contact person's address and it is expected that the contact person will forward the notices to the company.
The contact person is the company's representative in Estonia, but his or her rights are limited to receiving documents addressed to the company. The person providing the contact person service may not conduct transactions on behalf of the company.
Who can be the contact person?
Only institutions specified in the law may be designated as contact persons. These include auditors, lawyers, notaries and companies that have been granted the appropriate license.
