Grow was the first accounting office to start digitizing all paper invoices and they became PDF invoices, but the latter is not a machine-readable invoice. Today, Estonia has also reached the point where it is time to move on to e-invoices. An e-invoice is an invoice that can be processed electronically and that an accounting program is able to read. The latter does not mean that the need for accountants will disappear, but the position of data entry clerks performing simpler tasks is expected to disappear in the future.
